The System – Bill Orr, Gregg Sizemore, Bruce Stevenson, Danny Stevenson. The original lineup featured Flip Moore. After Flip moved away, Bill Orr joined on keyboards and vocals.

The Rockunes became King Mixer for our 1997 album. The lineup above, from left: Brent Guyton, Gregg Sizemore, Bruce Stevenson, Thomas Horton, Danny Stevenson. Photo taken at Gregg’s house (garage) on Norwood Ave in Rock Hill.

We were “The System” ca. 1990, then because that name was already taken by a nationally known band, we were “The Rockunes” – a silly name, but a great party band! Notice that Gregg and I are identified incorrectly in the caption (plus his name is misspelled).

Attractions was an important venue for us and Rock Hill. Walgreens sits on that Cherry Road corner near Winthrop these days.

An important role for Gregg in the band was singing. He and Danny (and Flip while he was in the band) did lots of great vocal, especially on the Beatles tunes in our set list.

I don’t know the story here – let’s just call it Gregg’s fan club! Maybe girls he worked with as a radiology technician?

Gregg played some guitar before joining the band but learned to play bass as his main instrument. Here, obviously an early gig, he and Danny have swapped instruments for a song or two.

Another experimental shot in hippie clothes. The System did some Beatles tunes, and lots of dance party music, but we also brought back some classics like Nights in White Satin and Stairway to Heaven.

This photo was taken around the time of our King Mixer album (Fall 97) and shortly before the band broke up. Danny, Brent Guyton, Bruce, Gregg and Thomas. Brent and I would later play together in Uncle George (early 2000’s).

We played this mid-summer gig at Lake Norman after Thomas Horton joined us on keyboards and we had changed the name to The Rockunes. (ca. 1996)

I can tell by the new Pearl set I’m playing that this was an Attractions gig later in our run as The System. Flip is still with us here, so still early to mid-90’s.

I can’t remember the name of this restaurant/bar in Charlotte. We played there several times, here with Flip Moore, later with Billy Orr.
